Parish Centre's Jubilee Heritage

The parish centre, formerly the Jubilee School, has a room called the ‘Jubilee Room’. 
We thought that the Jubilee School was probably erected to mark Queen Victoria’s jubilee, but we noticed this plaque which shows that it actually relates King George III’s Golden Jubilee in 1809. 
Our former vicar, Roger Oldfield, reminded us that the building was extended and refurbished (around 2000) to the glory of God,  but it’s also interesting to remember all the Christian teaching that went on in the building prior to that.

Alpha Course

Alpha Course

Do you have questions about the meaning of life?

A parish-wide Alpha course is currently running on Wednesday evenings in the Parish Centre. An Alpha group is a  safe place to discuss faith issues with other people asking similar questions, and find out how God answers them through Jesus Christ.

I would just like to highlight the following from this week’s notices:

  • TONIGHT at 7.30pm in St. Peter’s Church a performance of ‘My Place…somewhere to belong’ is taking place. This production is by Riding Lights Theatre Company in conjunction with Home For Good.  We would love to see you there!  Tickets can be booked online at:

Out & About

Out and About walk

out and about header

Our next walk is on Saturday 4th June. This ‘Jubilee’ walk will start from outside St Peters at 10:00am (note the later start time).
We will walk to Rick and Jane Heath’s house, where we will have Jubilee refreshments, then back to church, a total of 8 miles. For those who would like a shorter walk, meet up with the main walkers on the path near Curley’s at Wallsuches (BL6 6PP) at 11:30am,  and walk with them to the Heath’s, then back to Curley’s (total 2 miles).
All welcome, including children and dogs.
